Atletico winger Bitolo's conflict with his old club finally came to an end. He apologized to Sevilla and his fans on social networks.
"I am very happy because the contradiction that began a long time ago is over." Bitolo wrote, "I thank everyone for their efforts, and I apologize to Sevilla, its president and fans for what happened during this period. It could have been better, so today I am very satisfied that everything has a good ending."
The contradiction between the two sides stemmed from the transfer turmoil in the summer two years ago. In July 2017, Sevilla President Jose Castro announced Bitolo’s contract extension until 2022. However, just a few days later, Bitolo appeared in La Liga with representatives of Las Palmas Headquarters, the latter paid a liquidated damage of 37 million euros for Atletico Madrid in the transfer ban period for Bitolo to terminate the contract.
As a result, Bitolo was able to sign Atletico Madrid and play for Las Palmas on loan until January 2018, and then formally joined Atletico Madrid. Sevilla believes that Bitolo is unilaterally terminated instead of a normal transfer, so it is not necessary to pay the Gran Canaria capital team in accordance with the contract provisions when the player transferred from Las Palmas to Sevilla in 2013 12.5% transfer fee share.
The two parties filed a court case for this, and the Madrid High Court finally rejected Seville's appeal and ruled that Seville must pay 4.1 million euros to Las Palmas.
